Haemorrhage Interview

Got a chance to talk with Luisma from Haemorrhage!

Red Light Grind:
Hey Luis thanks for giving my tiny ass zine this interview, it means a lot! How's Haemorrhage doing and the weather in Spain?

Luisma:
You're welcome to the morgue! We are ok, thanks and the wheater today is so fucking cold.

Red Light Grind:
For those who have not heard of Haemorrhage, which would just baffle my mind, could you give us a brief history ?

Luisma:
Well we are those fucking bastards dressed up like surgeons that are spewing out goregrind since 1990. 6 full studio albums and tons of MCDs, EPs etc...since that! A long gore story!

Red Light Grind:
Your last album not including the split with Gruesome Stuff Relish was Hospital Carnage, which i personally own, was fucking awesome. And from what i've heard other people say they are impressed to. How do you feel about that album and how do you think it compared with your last album Apology For Pathology. (Which is a staple in the goregrind genre in my opinion)

Luisma:
I think both albums are good. People said this too, and our more loyal fans are in love with this albums. There are good songs in "Apology..." and also on "Hospital" but I think "Hospital " has a better production and this makes everything better.

Red Light Grind:
Your split with Gruesome Stuff Relish was released not long after your full length, could you tell us a little about the split. Did you guys rush it or anything?

Luisma:
Well really we want to release it on Relapse as advance of "Hospital Carnage" but they said they usually don't do that, they always prefer to release the album first so we took these songs and released the Ep when Gruesome Stuff Relish had their songs ready and when the label decided to do it. If we could we had released it before the album.

Red Light Grind:
Do you feel the goregrind scene is still the same as when you started? Or has the internet changed the scene?

Luisma:
I think now Goregrind is huge! in the past there were good bands too but it was occulted by a legion of Death Metal bands. Labels took this as a subgenre and they only supported Death Metal bands. But now I look at internet and I see goregrind bands everywhere. Internet allows the bads promoting theirsleves without the support of a label behind. Of course it can never be the same that a label work, but at least give them this chance.

Red Light Grind:
What equipment do you use, studio and live , is it the same set up?

Luisma:
We have our own custom guitars made by 666strings a guitar maker from Germany. At home I have a Marshall JCM 900 and I have a line6 amp in our practice room. No, we don't use the same same set-up live and studio, we try to do it but it can't never be the same. it depends on the venue, etc....In the festivals we can't only do a short sound check so sometimes is hard to get the same sound than in studio.

Red Light Grind:
What's next for Haemorrhage can you leak a little information to me here?

Luisma:
We will record a MCD covering songs of spanish Punk bands. And we will release it only in Mexico.

Red Light Grind:
What's been your favorite show and funniest show moment or tour for that matter?

Luisma:
I can't say only one. I specially like big festivals; Hellfest, Brutal assault, Wff, Party-san....Many bands shit on their pants when they got on the stage and see so many people but we don't. More people more fun for us! About tours I specially loved our japanese tour in 2005.

Red Light Grind:
Do you have any certain bands you want to play with or any specific fests?

Luisma:
Well I would like to play with Impetigo, but I think this would be difficult . I hope they can re-form the band again someday.

Red Light Grind:
Do you think you guys would actually make good surgeons, given the oppurtunity?

Luisma:
No!!!! We surely could have killed thousands.

Red Light Grind:
Any personal favorite disc in the Haemorrhage discography?

Luisma:
"Hospital Carnage" and "Grume". I like them all but these are a little bit above the rest.

Red Light Grind:
How's Black Hole Productions working for you guys, are you going to stay there for the next release?

Luisma:
Well Black Hole is a cool label, I know his owner Fernando for years and Brazil is a country I love and a really metal place. So we wanted to release that on this label. For the next album we expect to stay on Relapse but its not only depending on us.

Red Light Grind:
Alright, last question i typically ask. Haemorrhage, in 10 years will it be?

Luisma:
People asked me this 10 years ago...ha, ha....No, i'm sure Haemorrhage won't exist in 10 years, but our legacy will live in younger bands.

Red Light Grind:
Thanks again from me and the Red Light Grinders! Any last words or insults you'd like to spew at our audience?

Luisma:
Thanks for the interview and spport goregrind!!! STAY SICK!!!!
