I'm curious from the start, how'd you get the nickname Lord Funeral. Lord Worm reference?
Lord Funeral:
Lord Funeral is not a tribute to Lord Worm, even though I'm a huge fan of this singer, mainly for Cryptopsy's first album "Blasphemy made flesh". Unfortunately his short comeback to the band quite disappointed me - however Cryptopsy are now into a genre I don't like anymore.
Whatever... the nickname is not a reference... maybe just 1%... also because I really like the picture with spade on "None so vile"... so... let's raise "Lord" to 10% "Lord Worm", and say "Funeral" for "Funeral Rape".
RLG:
Funeral Rape has released 3 full lengths a split and 4 compilations. 2 of the full lengths were released on Redrum Records,if i am correct, are you currently still signed to Redrum?
Lord Funeral:
Actually all 3 of our full lenghts were released under Redrum, Chainsaw in 2004 (pre-released under Lombroso Releases), Sexperiment in 2006 and Porn Afterlife in 2010, moreover I must specify that the split that many times I see appearing on the web was never released officially, because the label under which we were working has disappeared together with its own founder. We never received our due copies and probably no one really owns this split, that was instead released, together with few more songs, as the full length "Sexperiment". Yes, currently we are still working with Redrum.
RLG:
How is your relationship with them? How have they compared to past labels?
Lord Funeral:
Usually, as we finish recording our tracks, we deal directly with Will Rahmer that acts as executive producer,taking care of prints and album promotion.
Redrum Records is usually one of the most important labels in the grind undergound scene and Will is a very fair man to deal with.
RLG:
Are you guys currently working on any present/future material?
Lord Funeral:
We are working on a new full length concept that will focus on porn actors and actresses' lives, more ore less known, dead or alive. Every song will tell the story of a character, noticeable for contributing to something unforgettable in porn panorama.
Recordings will begin early 2012.
RLG:
You guys are from Italy right, how is the music scene over there? Preferably the death metal one/goregrind if there is one.
Lord Funeral:
The underground goregrind/porngrind scene is rich in interesting bands, with which we usually set up genre festivals. I sure advice you to try Ultimo Mondo Cannibale, 2MinutaDreka, Bodygrinder, Suppurated, Compost, Bukkake Violence Kommando, Grumo, Olocausto. In Italy the porngrind scene is very active.
RLG:
Do any certain drummers or bands influence your drumming style?
Lord Funeral:
My drumming style is for sure derived from '90s death metal bands that were amongst my main listenings in that period, so for sure Mike Smith (Suffocation) Donald Tardy (Obituary) and later I mixed their style with a little goregrind taste, taken from bands like CBT, Mortician, Anal Cunt. Anyways I always try to mix up everything with my personal fingerprint and to maintain a defined Lord Funeral style. The result of my work with Funeral Rape is, in my opinion, something original.
RLG:
Who writes the majority of your material? Or is it a collaboration?
Lord Funeral:
Usually our songs originate from a collaboration from band members. In the first two albums I have also been writing riffs, since I used to be a bass player in the past. Recently I focused more on drum parts and riffs are mainly written by MadCock, even though we usually work on this together.
RLG:
Do you guys have any tours planned or want to tour anywhere?
Lord Funeral:
In these years we have been touring Italy only, since we also had big line-up troubles.
Since few months, with the coming into the band of Squirt Hunter as bass player, the line-up seems to have retrieved a certain stability.
As a result we would like to plan for the future both an European tour and maybe a US tour.
RLG:
Will your new material be any different than your past outputs?
Lord Funeral:
Our next album will be more brutal and sicker than earlier works, even though you'll still find in it Funeral Rape style; tracks will be no longer than 1' but our new style involves faster riffing and more intense blast. Furthermore our new tracks will be sung only by MadCock. I'm pretty sure fans will not be disappointed by this: we will not emulate other bands that begin by playing a genre and end up by playing a totally different one...we will not become trendy assholes!
RLG:
What does Lord Funeral like to do to chill and relax?
Lord Funeral:
I watch a lot of horror B-movies, trash movies (I have more than 1'000 original titles); I manage a movie review website; I have a wide comic collection (horror, marvels and rare);
I collect horror action figures, spend some of my time with playstation... and most of all fucking whores... for free, of course!
RLG:

For the first two albums we called a good friend, former frontman of the grind band "Allcock", the third album's cover was developed by the singer of the italian porngrind band "2 minuta dreka".

It says on your Facebook you were all professional porn actors and left the industry to persue Funeral Rape? Is this true?
Lord Funeral:
Yes, of course! However I would like to remind all of our fans we do NOT have an official facebook page, as we are against the social network.
